HERETYK

1. Welcome! You recorded a really nice album with a nice title 'Godless'. What's the peaple's response to that material
Hell-o !! Thanks for nice words !! Response for Godless wasn´t any strong at all, but mostly really positive.

2. Finally you managed to collect a full line-up. It took you some time to find a second guitarist. Are you pleased with all members? Do you think this line-up will last long?
Yes, the line-up is finally an ideal one and we do hope to keep banging this way really really long time !!

3. Your music didn't change much throughtout your history. When I listen to 'Shadows Of The Damned' and 'Godless' and try to compare these albums the most obvious is the difference in speed. Now you play much faster. But the music itself is more or less in the same style. Can you agree with me? What do you think of bands that totally change their music style?
Actually any opinion about our music is fine, you have your ears and you hear what you hear. I fully respect it. I personally think that my songwritting style developed in some ways, but surely not totally changed. I still love the great albums I liked 10 years ago, no reason for some general change at all. And I hardly find anything interesting in nowadays scene so I simply give a shit. I am doing my music my way and whatta fuck should I care what is around. For example many people damn bands as Gorefest, Entombed, Hypocrisy, Amorphis, Grave etc etc because their new albums are not as good as the old ones (not to use some dirty words haha..). But for me they are still godly, I simply praise their old works. They did a great job and if they have turned to be fucking sweet rockstars, its just not worthy of my attention.

4. You always sing in your native language. How important is that for the image of the band? Have you ever tried singing in English? Why did you decide to use your own language?
Uhhhh would be fine getting an interview without this question... But OK... I guess this is one of first Avenger interviews for polish area... So just short comment to explain the things. OK, so If I dont mention a few months in 1992 when we were trying English, we have always used our native czech language for all lyrics. I dont know if you had the same in Poland, but in CZ there have been simply so many czech metal bands singing in czech (Masters Hammer, Root, Torr, Debustrol, Kryptor, Morrior and so MANY more) that even if we were starting with usual death metal style, using a czech language was something absolutely normal. It was no big decision, no big disscusion around. And later.. despite we got a record deal in USA.... At that time czech language was already so traditional for Avenger that we didnt want to change and I think we are never going to turn on any other language. I see no good reason for this.

5. I get an impression that singing in the native language is more common in Czech Republick than in other countries. Why is it so? What is so special in your language?
I am afraid I cannot explain. And still I wonder why it is an object of so big attention.. Czech language is simply a good language to do lyrics in. So we and our countrymates are using it.

6. One more question about Czech language. You probably know that it sounds a bit funny to us, Poles. I'm wondering if it works the other way round? Are you making fun of Polish?
Haha, good question. To be sincere I dont know too many polish works... and I think my only experience with polish lyrics was listening to "DARKSIDE" album by CHRIST AGONY. And one more.... old good KAT. Oh yeah... this similarity to CZ sounds sometimes really funny. But on the other side I think polish is even more nice sounding etc... Really fine.

7. You are certainly an antichristian band as we can learn from the titles and lyrics. What is the position of the Church in your country? Are people still bowing under its whip or maybe more and more people open their eyes and see through the veil of lies?
So far what what I know you Poles have it harder with church. CZ is lets say a little bit more liberate. But it doesnt mean that you cant meet here some idiots who try to curse you and make you problems. Christian plague is everywhere the same filth.

8. I'm always jealous when I see how strong the metal scene in your country is. I mean all these concerts, festivals, zines etc. During the Nuclear Storm festival I saw lots of guys selling numerous zines or some underground cds. It's really impressive. How are you doing this? Poland is a poor country, as far as these thing are concerned...
Ok, again a question I cannot explain.

9. You are a very active band, you play a couple of gigs per month. What are you plans? Have you ever visited Poland? How do your concerts look like? Do you use any special gear?
We played in Leszno in 2001 (together with GODLY Christ Agony ahhh !!). It was really crowded great gig... I do hope to come back again. Well, Avenger show is just fuckin´loud´n´heavy dark metal blast. No requisitions, no pretending. Just pure music & usual stage movement, unveiled brutality. TOTAL METAL !!

10. During the Nuclear Storm I noticed that almost every second metal fan was wearing a t-shirt with the logo of Root. I doubt they are really well-known in Poland. Is their status in Czech so cult? Are they really so respected by fans?
Its one of the best bands worldwide even if they are not so famous abroad. Get their stuff and I assure you - you will not regret !! They have been crushing the skulls for over 15 years now and they are trully worthy attention !

11. During that festival me and my friend tried to get drunk, while enjoying the bands playing live. But you know, that was totally impossible! Now matter how much we drank nothing happened! How do you get drunk in your country with your tasty but not very strong bear? Or maybe it's on purpose to avoid any drunken brawls?
I am sure you know the answer. If wanna getting drunk, beer is not the only tasty stuff friend haha !!

12. I know you play or played in a couple of bands, including Dark Storm, Krieg and Maniac Butcher. What about the other members? Any side projects?
Ramus was going thru Maniac and Dark Storm as well... Otherwise nothing special at all. Avenger is the main band for all of us.

13. Apart from being a musician you organize Open Hell Festival. Can you disclose any details concerning this year's concert? Have you ever thought about organizing some tours? By the way, do you have time for anything else except music?
BTW / Music is my really everyday care haha !! Sometimes its getting a little bit tiring, but I think I would soon die bored without all those duties around metal. OHF is going to happen on July 23 - 24, 27 bands from czech / slovak / all European area. More news at www.openhell.web.tiscali.cz OK... organizing tours... I tried something small like this 1 year ago and I lost really much money... So no... thank you but I can live without this.

14. Are you interested in the Polish metal scene? What bands do you like? Do you stay in touch with any of them?
Hhmmm I dont know too much stuff... Vader de profundis is killer, Behemoth sucks, Throneum are really fine, Damnation and Lost Soul are fucking brutal, Christ Agony is cult (no matter that Cezar ripped me off 500 DM.. bastard !!), Lux Occulta... I dont understand them... Fuck off Graveland, Veles etc... I cannot respect nazi bands. Well thats so far what came to my mind at the moment... Oh yeah... BTW / what about Profanum ? I heard just one good song by them by I have never heard anything more ???

15. Do you have some plans for the near future? Maybe a gig in Poland? Are you writing some new stuff?
When there is offer, we are surely interested in coming !! Gigging is so far the only plans for the nearest future. Later this year, we will be recording a new album (songs are less or more finished).

16. Ok, that's all from me, thanx for the interview, last words belong to you. Hail!
I thank you for this interview. Feel free to check our news, gigs and more at www.avenger.web.wo.cz
